ACCESSIBILITY AT STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

Advance booking

Advance booking is always a good idea so that our staff can readily provide assistance if required. Accompanying carers are eligible for a free ticket. We will be pleased to reserve wheelchair spaces or seats in any particular part of the auditorium if this is helpful. Please contact us in advance.

Customers with limited mobility

All areas of the building are accessible to customers with limited mobility, including wheelchair users. We can remove seats in each of the auditoria to accommodate wheelchairs. We recommend that you telephone in advance to confirm availability and book a space in order to avoid disappointment. The Box Office and bar have adapted counters and accessible levels for transactions.

Visually impaired customers

Guide dogs are welcome. If you wish to take your dog into a performance, please let us know when booking so that we can arrange an aisle seat. Our staff will be happy to provide drinking water for your dog. Our stair rails have embossed tactile aids, which indicate the steps approaching each level. Three bumps mean that you are on the third step from the landing, two that you are on the second step, and one that you are on the final step.

Customers with impaired hearing

Induction loop systems are fitted in each of the four auditoria. To access the system, you will need to turn your hearing aid to the T position. Certain performances carry subtitles, and these are clearly indicated in the programme.

Audience members are welcome to take a break from the screen, make noise and move around as needed. Autism Friendly screenings run on the third Sunday of every month at 11.00 and tickets are £2.50 per person.

The films are specially programmed and include older classics and musicals. Sound levels are turned down if it is a loud soundtrack, the lights are left on at a low level and there are no trailers or adverts at the beginning of the film. Free tea/coffee and biscuits are served before the film to give audience members a chance to socialise and familiarise themselves with the building. Dementia-Friendly screenings run on the second Wednesday of every month with refreshments from 11:30 and the film starting at 12.00. Tickets are £4 per person, with free tickets for accompanying carers.
