For the over-60s. Membership is free, and members can enjoy a free tea or coffee and biscuits at the weekly Silver Screen shows. Silver Screen members’ tickets are £6.40 for Silver Screen shows. Non-members are also welcome – the usual ticket prices apply.
For parents and guardians with babies under one year old. Membership is free and valid until the baby’s first birthday. Tickets are £8.40 (Picturehouse Members £6.40), babies come free. Only customers with babies will be admitted.
For preschool children and their parents and carers. Tickets are £3.00 for children, free for accompanying adults. No adult unaccompanied by a toddler will be admitted.
The unemployed can purchase a ticket at child ticket prices Tuesday to Thursday before 5.00pm
For children aged three to 12. Tickets for children and accompanying adults are £2.00 each. No adult unaccompanied by a child will be admitted.

3D films cost £1.30 extra per person, not including 3D glasses. These cost an additional 70p, and can be purchased at the cinema if you do not have your own.
Student tickets are available to those in full-time secondary or higher education.
Retired tickets are available to those over 60 who are retired.
Child tickets are available to those under 15.
Family tickets are for four people, at least two of whom must be under 15. Not applicable to premium-price screenings.
You may be asked for proof of age, which needs to be photographic ID with date of birth. Suitable proof includes a passport or a CitizenCard (details of which are available from the Box Office).
There is a £1.50 booking fee per transaction for telephone and online bookings. This fee does not apply to Picturehouse Members,* or to tickets purchased in person at the cinema.
*Includes Silver Screen and Slackers Club members, as well as paid-for Memberships.

This section explains our accessibility facilities to help you plan your visit.
All public areas of the building are accessible to customers with limited mobility. There is a wheelchair-accessible lift to the right as you enter the main foyer, which serves all floors and the basement areas. The Box Office and bar all have adapted counters and accessible levels for transactions.
To avoid disappointment we recommend booking wheelchair spaces in advance; this will help us to allocate the adjoining seats to your companions, if required. However, we will make every effort to accommodate customers who have not made an advance booking.
The lift is fitted with a voice commentary and tactile aids. It has an intercom and an alarm should you need to contact a member of staff in an emergency.
We welcome guide dogs at City Screen and can accommodate them in the auditoria and bars. Please book in advance so that we can allocate the most appropriate seating. We are able to provide drinking water for your dog, and we will be happy to look after your dog during the screening.
Stair rails have embossed tactile aids underneath which indicate the number of steps approaching each level. Three bumps mean that you are on the third step from the landing, two that you are on the second step, and so on.
The main customer toilets, which include a separate fully accessible toilet, are in the basement. There are also additional accessible toilets on the lower-ground floor and the second floor; these toilets have National Key Scheme (Radar) locks, and a key is available at the Box Office or from the usher. There are emergency call-points in all our disabled toilets should you need to summon assistance. Baby-changing facilities are also available on the lower-ground and second floors.
Weekly listings are available in large print from the Box Office. Large-print menus are available in the bar.
Audio Description and Enhanced Soundtrack
All our auditoria are equipped with a system that delivers Audio Description (AD) or an enhanced soundtrack through a headset or a portable hearing loop. The AD runs every time a film with Audio Description is shown, and is undetectable to anyone not wearing a headset.
We show films with AD whenever the necessary files are made available by film distributors. Like a narrator telling a story, AD gives an additional commentary describing body language, expressions and movements. It gives information about things which are not made clear through the soundtrack.
AD screenings are indicated in the weekly listings. Enhanced soundtrack is always available.

Subtitled Access Screenings
We aim to show films with some subtitled screenings whenever possible. Films available with subtitles are indicated in our weekly printed cinema times, on our website and in our weekly email newsletter (click here to sign up). Our programme also contains many foreign-language films with English subtitles. These may also be suitable for d/Deaf or hearing-impaired customers
Car parking in central York can be difficult. However, if you have a Blue Badge and a Time Clock, and as long as there are no loading bans, you may park in areas with yellow lines for periods of up to three hours. Local streets where you can do this are Lendal, Blake Street, Goodramgate, St Helen’s Square, King’s Square and Colliergate. Vehicles may drop passengers outside the cinema before 10.30am and after 5.00pm seven days a week. Setting down is best done by pulling up alongside St Martin-Le-Grand in Coney Street. There are parking spaces in St Helen's Square, Parliament Square and Davygate for Orange Badge holders.

In the Event of Fire
Wheelchair users and other mobility-impaired patrons will be evacuated by trained staff using evacuation chairs placed at or near the top (or bottom, if in the basement) of staircases.

Customers who have a disability that means that they need a companion with them in the cinema can bring them to any Picturehouse Cinema for free.
You can sign up for a Carers Card which will automatically discount one of your tickets, and which you can use – without a booking fee – when buying tickets in person, online or by telephone. The card will also mean that you don’t have to explain your situation every time you visit the cinema.
Ticket prices for customers with disabilities are according to their circumstances (e.g. adult, Member or student); the free ticket applies to their companion. The card must be used in conjunction with a paid-for ticket or a Member’s free ticket.
All customers for 3D screenings – including those using free tickets – will need to buy a pair of 3D glasses. These can be reused if you keep them.
Signing up for a card is not required, but we hope it will make buying tickets easier. It is personal to you, and may not be used by other people.

The Riverside: with its spectacular setting, our licensed bar and café-restaurant is the ideal place to relax and enjoy anything from a cup of tea to a full meal.

Our standard range of coffee is organic and fair trade. Our gourmet coffees are also fair trade, and are sourced direct from the growers, so will generally be organic. We serve three real ales from local breweries in our bar, and a glorious selection of wines from Bibendum. In addition to our teas, coffees and soft and alcoholic drinks, our diverse and inspired food menu has helped to generate City Screen’s reputation as one of York's most appealing venues at any time of the day.

Provenance: at Riverside, we only use free-range eggs. We source our pork, bacon, sausages and free-range chicken locally from Sykes House Farm, and our beef from Wolds Select. Our fish is sustainably sourced from Burnholme Fisheries, and we buy bread locally from Bluebird Bakery and Via Vecchia.
All our food is made to order on the premises, so please consider this when ordering.
