The Box Office, café-bar, kiosk, and one of our two accessible toilets are on the ground floor and accessible to customers with limited mobility including wheelchair users. We have a wheelchair-accessible lift for access to our first-floor bar, upstairs screens and top floor community room. A Radar key is required to use the accessible toilet (available on request from a member of staff if needed).
Screens 1, 2, 3 and 4 all have a number of seats that are removable for wheelchair access.
Blue-badge holders are permitted to park on disabled parking spaces on Tottenham Lane.
Audio Description (AD) is a narrated soundtrack where the action, scene changes and the actors' body language is described for people with sight loss. This additional soundtrack is broadcast through wireless headsets so only the wearer can hear it, and fits within the silent gaps in a film so it doesn't interfere with the dialogue. Headsets are available to borrow at the box office. There is a £5 deposit on headsets which will be refunded when you return them. AD is available in screens 1-5 for every film where an AD track has been created (most films do have an AD track, but not all). The headsets work best in the middle of a row. Large print versions of our film schedule are available on request from a member of staff.
We have a hearing loop at Crouch End Picturehouse to aid interaction between staff and customers who use hearing aids. The hearing loop helps to amplify the spoken word and limit background noise which might otherwise be picked up by the hearing aid. To use the loop system, switch your hearing aid to the 'T' setting or loop programme. No other equipment is needed.
Guide dogs are welcome at Crouch End Picturehouse. If you wish to take a dog into a performance, please let us know when booking so we can arrange an aisle seat. Alternatively, your dog can be cared for by a member of staff for the duration of the performance. We will be happy to provide drinking water for your dog.
Autism-Friendly Screenings are screenings which create an environment that is welcoming for people with a range of conditions such as autism, learning disabilities and cognitive disorders. Sound levels are turned down, the lights are left on at a low level and there are no trailers or adverts at the beginning of the film. Audience members are welcome to take a break from the screen, make noise and move around as needed. Autism-Friendly screenings run at least once a month and tickets are £3 per person.
Dementia-Friendly Screenings are open to all but specially adapted to enable people living with Dementia to enjoy a trip to the cinema. The films are specially programmed and include older classics and musicals. Sound levels are turned down if it is a loud soundtrack, the lights are left on at a low level and there are no trailers or adverts at the beginning of the film. Free tea/coffee and biscuits are served before the film to give audience members a chance to socialise and familiarise themselves with the building. There is a short interval about halfway through the film and audience members are welcome to take a break from the screen, make noise and move around as needed. Autism Friendly screenings run once a month with refreshments from 10.30 and the film starting at 11.00. Tickets are £4 per person, with free tickets for accompanying carers.
