ACCESSIBILITY AT CLAPHAM

Advance booking

Advance booking is always a good idea so that our staff can readily provide assistance if required. Accompanying carers are eligible for a free ticket. We will be pleased to reserve wheelchair spaces or seats in any particular part of the auditorium if this is helpful. Please contact us in advance.

Customers who are mobility impaired

The ground floor is accessible to customers with limited mobility including wheelchair users. The Box Office, café-bar, kiosk, toilets and Screens 3 and 4 are all located on the ground floor. There are two wheelchair spaces in both screens. We regret that at present there is no lift and Screen 1 can only be accessed by ascending a staircase of 20 steps. Access to Screen 2 involves a further staircase of 23 steps. Our café-bar has an adapted counter for wheelchair users.

Blue-badge holders are permitted to park in Venn Street just outside the cinema. However, Venn Street is closed and pedestrianised Friday - Sunday. On these days we recommend using the adjacent Brommell's Road

Customers with a visual impairment

Guide dogs are welcome. If you wish to take your dog into a performance, please let us know when booking so that we can arrange an aisle seat. Our staff will be happy to provide drinking water for your dog. Our stair rails have bumps on the side to indicate the number of steps approaching each level. Three bumps mean that you are on the third step from the landing, two bumps that you are on the second step and one bump that you are on the final step. Large-print film schedules are available on request.

Audio Description (AD) is a narrated soundtrack where the action, scene changes and the actors' body language is described for people with sight loss. This additional soundtrack is broadcast through wireless headsets so only the wearer can hear it, and fits within the silent gaps in a film so it doesn't interfere with the dialogue. Headsets are available to borrow at the box office. AD is available in screens 1, 3 and 4 for every film where an AD track has been created (most films do have an AD track, but not all). To find out if a performance is available with Audio Description, please check the film listings on our website where they are clearly identified, ask a member of staff at the cinema, or contact the Accessibility Helpline.

Customers with a hearing impairment

We have an Infrared system available in screens 1, 3 and 4. This system transmits the dialogue via infrared light to headsets, which are available by request at the box office. In screen 2 we have Infrared neck loops, for hearing aid users. Place the loop around your neck and switch your hearing aid to the 'T' setting or loop programme. The neck loop looks like a necklace; it has an infrared receiver which needs to be facing the screen.

We offer regular Subtitled (Captioned) screenings, which provide a transcription of the audio from a film, displayed at the bottom of the cinema screen. Along with the dialogue from the film, the subtitles include non-dialogue audio such as "(sighs)" or "(door creaks)" to ensure people who are deaf or hard of hearing can enjoy the full film plot. These screenings may also benefit those with English as a second language. Subtitled screenings are programmed on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Please note that not all films are provided with a Subtitled (Captioned) track, so some weeks we may have fewer subtitled screenings as a result.

Autism-Friendly screenings

Autism Friendly Screenings are screenings which create an environment that is welcoming for people with a range of conditions such as autism, learning disabilities and cognitive disorders. Sound levels are turned down, the lights are left on at a low level and there are no trailers or adverts at the beginning of the film. Audience members are welcome to take a break from the screen, make noise and move around as needed. Autism Friendly screenings run on the third Sunday of each month at 11.00 and tickets are £3 per person.

Seating plans

Screen 1 - aisles are located next to seats numbered 7 and 16

Screens 2, 3 and 4 - aisle is located next to seats numbered 1

There is a wheelchair-accessible adapted toilet on the ground floor. There is an alarm cord inside should you need to summon a member of staff.

Disabled parking

Blue-badge holders are permitted to park in Venn Street just outside the cinema. However, Venn Street is closed and pedestrianised Friday - Sunday. On these days we recommend using the adjacent Brommell's Road
