It's curtain up on a new era at Ashford, as the Ashford Picturehouse at Elwick Place comes under new ownership.

From Monday 22 April 2024, the Ashford Picturehouse at Elwick Place is under new management and operating as The Ashford Cinema.

Local cinema lovers, fear not. Picturehouse Cinemas will hand the six-screen cinema and restaurant to Ashford Borough Council and The Ashford Cinema, who will continue to give audiences in Ashford access to a great range of films and events. The council aims to continue the entertainment offer in the town centre, alongside the popular range of eating, drinking and leisure venues at Elwick Place. All staff will remain employed at the venue, and we wish the wonderful Ashford team all the best in this new step.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the handover be happening?
Picturehouse's final day of operations is Sunday 21 April. The cinema will close on Monday 22 April, and reopen under new management on Tuesday 23 April.

I'm a Member. What will happen to my Membership?
Your Membership with Picturehouse will be transferred to The Ashford Cinema, so you'll be able to enjoy the remaining duration of your Membership, as well as your free tickets, and access the same core membership benefits at The Ashford Cinema such as discounts on tickets, food and drink (although you'll no longer be able to use your membership at other Picturehouse Cinemas).

What do I need to do to transfer my Membership?
You don't need to do anything: we'll share your membership details with The Ashford Cinema, your membership will transfer and you will be able to start using it from 30 April 2024. The Ashford Cinema will contact you about this transfer and how to use your replacement membership within 7 to 14 days.

What if I don't want to transfer my Membership?
If you don't want your Membership to transfer to The Ashford Cinema, that's fine. You have the choice to opt out of your Membership transfer, which will allow you to continue with your Picturehouse Membership at Picturehouse Cinemas as usual (but not at The Ashford Cinema).

Alternatively, you may cancel your Picturehouse Membership and receive a refund of Membership Fees for any remaining months of Membership.

To continue your Picturehouse Membership or request a refund, please get in touch with the Picturehouse Customer Care team by Sunday 21 April 2024. If we don't hear from you by then, your Membership will transfer to The Ashford Cinema.
