After the screening we'll be joined by director Tomáš Hodan for a Q&A.
A gripping drama telling the true story of Czech skiing pioneers Hanc and Vrbata, German athlete Emmerich Rath and one fateful race that took place in the Krkonose mountains in 1913.
Although Hanc promised his pregnant wife never to race again, he can’t resist the opportunity to beat the Germans in the first-ever Czech-German cross-country race, and joins the competition.
When the sun is replaced by a blizzard, the race turns into a battle for survival and a true friendship is tested.
Using historical records to reconstruct the race the film sets straight events that have been reinterpreted by the political ideologies of the past creating a captivating thriller set against a backdrop of beautiful mountain panoramas where national rivalries are set aside in a race to save a fellow human life.
