We're so glad to kickstart 2023 off with another film club evening at Picturehouse!

We’re hosting a very special evening with Oscar-winning director Aneil Karia along with award winning directors, Ebele Tate, Roxy Rezvany and Lainey Richardson

We’re delighted to be screening "The Long Goodbye" (Karia) as well as “Kiss Chase” (Tate), “Photo Booth” (Rezvany), and "Abi:Being Black & 6Teen” (Richardson). We’ll also be hosting a fireside chat and Q+A, giving the chance to learn more about their process and journey. 

Come, be inspired, and meet other members of the Pocc filmmaking community. Please arrive by 6:15pm for seating with screenings scheduled to start at 6:30. 
Expect networking and drinks afterwards at the bar.

Aneil Karia is an award-winning British filmmaker who directed Oscar-winning short ’The Long Goodbye’ starring Riz Ahmed. He began his career directing several award-winning short films, including ‘Beat’ and  ‘Work’ and has been the recipient of various accolades worldwide. In 2019, Aneil directed the final 3 episodes of TOP BOY 3 for Netflix. In the same year he directed ‘Trouble’ for Kano. The short film was praised for its stirring depiction of street violence and won Best Special Video Project at the 2019 UKVMAs.

Ebele Tate is a London born writer, producer/director, and recent graduate from the prestigious Directing Fiction MA at NFTS and an NYU TISCH School of the Arts alumni where she studied filmmaking. Ebele was also a recipient of the coveted London Calling award, whereby she wrote and directed a short film entitled ‘COCOA’, which went on to be a finalist at the FujiFilm Shorts competition and screened at BAFTA.

Roxy Rezvany is a filmmaker covering stories of migration and displacement, with ten years experience working in documentaries and fiction, and commissions from the Guardian, BFI, Barbican, and BBC Film. Her award-winning debut LITTLE PYONGYANG (2018) garnered over 250,000 views online, and she received a One World Media fellowship in support of WIFI RIDER (2020). PHOTO BOOTH (2021), her first narrative short, screened in competition for Best Short Film at Edinburgh Film Festival '21. 

Lainey Richardson is a British Director and Screenwriter signed to Caviar (UK, NL, BE) and Imposter (USA) of mixed Ghanaian and Jamaican heritage. Lainey made the short doc ‘SAMIRA’ winning the Best Short Short Award at LIFF ’19. In 2021 she was nominated for a Young Director Award at Cannes, and won Best Up and Coming Female Commercials Film Director at the Creative Circle Awards 2021.
