Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Lin-Manuel Miranda
Before his cultural phenomenon Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's first major Broadway smash was In the Heights, a joyous tale of big dreams set in New York's Washington Heights area. Now comes the film adaptation, courtesy of Crazy Rich Asian's director, Jon M. Chu. Hamilton's Anthony Ramos takes the plum role of Usnavi, a bodega owner who is planning to close his store and head for the Dominican Republic. Beside Ramos, there's a cast that features Straight Outta Compton's Corey Hawkins, Jimmy Smits and rising stars like Melissa Barrera and Leslie Grace. Choreographed by Christopher Scott, who first worked with Chu on Step Up 2: The Streets, this promises big-scale dance numbers with a Latino flavour. Time to put those salsa classes to good use.
