Cinema Managers: notes for applicants
We have relatively low turnover at management level and so opportunities do not arise often. However, when we do have vacancies we almost always turn first to the CVs that have been emailed to us, so we encourage you to send in your CV for our consideration.
Cinema managers need to have a wide range of skills, including people management, customer service, marketing & promotion, building maintenance, film projection, and food & beverage service. We do, of course, provide in-house training and support in all areas but the more experience you can bring (not necessarily in a cinema or theatre environment) the stronger your chances will be.
We look for people with exceptional organisational skills, flexibility about locations, a readiness to work unsocial hours, ideas about marketing, and a willingness to be completely hands-on. Experience of management is essential and you must, of course, have an interest in film.
Each cinema recruits its own front-of-house staff (front-of-house assistants, supervisors, duty managers, bar and catering staff). If you are interested in being considered for one of these positions please send your CV to your local cinema (see the Contact Us page on your cinema for address details). Applications for any management, projectionist or head office positions can be made by emailing your CV to email@example.com.
Outside London: £7.70 an hour plus £2 commission for every Membership sold or renewed.
London: £8.08 an hour plus £2 commission for every Membership sold or renewed. There is a separate pay agreement at The Ritzy in Brixton. Front-of-house staff there are paid a flat rate of £8.40 an hour.
All staff are paid monthly directly into their bank accounts and receive their payslips by email. It is therefore a requirement that all new staff have an email account and bank account.
All cinema staff who have one year’s service receive company sick pay. This tops up your Statutory Sick Pay to match your average earnings after a week’s absence. All managers and head office staff who have passed their probation receive company sick pay up to a maximum of four weeks a year.
All staff receive four weeks' holiday pay, plus an allowance for public holidays. Managers and Head Office staff receive an additional week after five years’ service, and a further week after ten years’ service.
Like all employers, the company makes pension contributions for all staff (unless you opt out). All staff can choose to increase their contributions after two years, and the company will increase its contributions.
