SHOWTIMES AND TICKETS

A bonafide cult classic, back on the big screen in a stunning 4K restoration. Two decades on Linda Linda Linda is still one of the most beloved coming-of-age films to come out of Japan. This is your chance to see it exactly how it was meant to be seen. Three days before their school festival, a girls' band is down to three members. They recruit the first person who walks past as their singer: Son (Bae Doona), a Korean exchange student who barely speaks Japanese. With almost no time, Kei (Yu Kashii), Kyoko (Aki Maeda) and Nozomi (Shiori Sekine) race to learn three songs, including The Blue Hearts' punk anthem "Linda Linda". Twenty years on, it remains a cult favourite. Joyful, funny and true to what it feels like to be young. MilkTea and Picturehouse collaborate on EAST OF PUNK is a three-event cinema season developed in response to the BFI’s Rip It Up season. It traces how cultures travel, beginning with punk’s journey from the UK to Japan, and opening out into a multitude of British ESEA youth cultures as they’re lived today.
