Directed by Terence Fisher, the film stars Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in two of their most iconic roles, as Victor Frankenstein (Cushing) recounts his failed attempt at creating the perfect human (Lee). THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN’s massive box office success would firmly establish ‘Hammer’ as a global brand of Gothic cinema, leading to several sequels and Hammer’s versions of DRACULA and THE MUMMY.

We are showing THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN fully uncensored — including the infamous “eyeball” scene — and restored in the lurid glory of Eastman Colour. Eastman Colour was developed as a cheaper alternative to Technicolor using a ‘single strip’ process and would help revolutionise colour as the default film stock globally. Its use here adds to the film’s reputation as the “first really gory horror film, showing blood and guts in colour" (Patricia MacCormack).

Polite notice: We are showing THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN with subtitles from the best available digital source in its original Academy ratio of 1.37:1.

The film was original rated ‘X’ by the BBFC in 1957 and is suitable for adults only. BAR TRASH is a celebration of cult and curious cinema, hosted by queer film fanatic Token Homo and friends. Films are served with themed drinks, introductions, intermissions, prize giveaways, and subtitles / captions where possible.

Tickets £8 / £5 for PH members. Adults 18+ only. Follow @tokenhomo or visit tokenhomo.com for all the gory details
