The London Australian Film Society and the Foundation for Australian and New Zealand Arts (FANZA) present the 2nd annual ANZ Film Festival at Finsbury Park Picturehouse, on the weekend between Australia Day and Waitangi Day.
A Saturday afternoon treat for the entire family, KANGAROO is a heart-warming family comedy about ex-TV personality, Chris Masterman (Ryan Corr), who becomes stranded in an Outback town, where he teams up with 12-year-old Indigenous girl Charlie (Lily Whiteley). The pair form an unlikely friendship and work together to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joeys in the remote but stunning Outback community - an endeavour that proves to be life-changing for all involved.
Inspired by the story of Chris ‘Brolga’ Barns - founder of The Kangaroo Sanctuary and star of BBC nature series Kangaroo Dundee - the film is directed by Kate Woods (Looking for Alibrandi) and features a stellar supporting cast, including Rachel House (The Mountain, Hunt for the Wilderpeople), Brooke Satchwell (Neighbours), Deborah Mailman (The Sapphires), Wayne Blair (Rams, The New Boy) and Ernie Dingo (Bran Nue Dae).
As the highest grossing Aussie film of 2025, from the studio that brought you Paddington, this one is sure to be a real crowd-pleaser!
Australian and New Zealand snacks, sweets & gifts will be on sale, and a raffle - with special family prizes - will take place before the screening.
With thanks to StudioCanal.
