The Fastest Bicycle tells the amazing story of Sir Roger Bannister’s grandson Barney Townsend and his team’s attempt at the World Human Powered Vehicle land speed record at Battle Mountain Nevada which stands at an eye watering 89.5 mph. Think Cool Runnings meets F1 Drive to Survive as Barney and the team tackle a missing bike, high speed crashes, team member departures, serious design flaws and injury. Its a story of perseverance beyond limits and of community, as the team discover that their competitors can also be their greatest allies.
This ‘Chase The Sun’ sponsored screening will feature a Q&A with double BAFTA winning director of the film Michael B. Clifford, plus special guest Russell Bridge who is one of the riders in 'The Fastest Bicycle'. Also on the panel are Olly Moore from 'Chase The Sun' and Gareth Jones from Pedall bikes. The event will be hosted by Amanda Shorey. Russell's bike '77' and a Pedall bike will be on display in the bar from 7.15 for a pre film ‘mingle’ and the film will start promptly at 8pm.
