With this month’s pick marking our fortieth screening, what better way to celebrate than with a true cult classic, as chosen by Trev?

Following an unsuccessful attempt to break into Western action films, Jackie Chan went back to his roots – the result, 1985’s Police Story, would go on to be a genre-defining blockbuster.

Following Chan’s police detective as he fights to clear his name after being accused of murder, the film’s plot was written around the huge action set-pieces and elaborate stunts that are uniquely Chan.

Regularly voted as one of the greatest action films of all time, especially by the stunt community, the scale and audacity of the film still stuns today - not least because Chan and his stunt team risked their lives to perform these dangerous and incredible stunts.

It’s the sort of filmmaking that the big screen was made for.
