As part of the Little Theatre’s 90th anniversary year, these special screenings revisit the films, moments and memories that have defined generations of cinema-going. Each film has been chosen for its place in our story — a celebration of the wonder and shared experiences that have filled our screens and auditorium for nine decades.
Presented by Benjamin Zephaniah, Footsteps of the Emperor (1999) explores the remarkable years that Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I spent in exile in Bath between 1936 and 1941. Through archive material and interviews with local residents who knew him, the film uncovers the lasting cultural, political and spiritual impact of his time at Fairfield House — a place that became a symbol of community, heritage and Rastafarian significance in Britain.
This screening will include a Q&A with Director Shawn Hailemariam Sobers.
