The voice behind All of Us Strangers (CFF43 Closing Film), Andrew Haigh adapts Colm Tóibín's eponymous short story into another introspective, emotional drama.
Set in 1950s Colorado, A Long Winter follows Mike (Fred Hechinger), a young man on the cusp of adulthood whose life is upended by the disappearance of his mother, during the first blizzard of the season.
As the search stretches from days into weeks, the onset of winter becomes inseparable from the family’s slow reckoning with the possibility that she may never return. But are we ever truly alone in a search for our most loved one?
The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity widening access to cinema and supporting emerging talent through film, education and community programmes.
