DIRECTOR: Jason Soo.
It is 2018, and we follow 22 activists aboard a fishing boat attempting to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. As they cross the Mediterranean, the activists engage in rehearsals and discussions.
The heart of the film lies not in the inevitable confrontation with the Israeli navy, but in the collective process: consensus decision-making, mutual care and a shared commitment to resisting injustice through non-violence.
These ordinary people come together to put solidarity into practice. As their destination draws closer, the activists do their best to prepare for what past experience suggests will be a volatile—and possibly violent—encounter.
The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region, and throughout the UK.
