Amélie (Loïse Charpentier) is a little Belgian girl born in Japan, whose first word is neither “Mama” nor “Papa,” but “aspirateur” (“vacuum cleaner” in French). As her third birthday approaches, her world of adventures and discoveries is about to change. To capture the perspective of a young girl with wide-eyed curiosity, Little Amélie (2025) is animated in an impressionistic style, using pastel colors and omitting the usual contours and outlines. Complementing this visual approach, the film echoes the narrative techniques of Japanese master animator Hayao Miyazaki. It won the Audience Award at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region, and throughout the UK.
