This film covers a little-known aspect of the World War II and the Jewish Diaspora, the escape of Jews through Andorra, a small country in the Pyrenees, whose only official language is Catalan. When a Jewish family has to find shelter in a village, tensions arise amongst the villagers, some of them also fighting for survival in very harsh conditions. This is Santi Trullenque's first film and he has acknowledged some inspiration from Werner Herzog in the role forces of nature play in the film and the difficulties of the shooting itself in the harsh winter of snowy and breathtaking Andorra.
The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge and the Eastern region but also throughout the UK.
