We Won't Kill Each Other With Guns CFF
18 85 mins
Five good friends, who have not seen each other for quite a while, reunite in the village where they grew up.
What starts as just a friendly paella lunch to see each other again, develops into an opportunity to bring up unresolved matters and personal frustrations, which explode in a cathartic party at night.
This film, like the paella, contains many ingredients, some are those we expect to find in 'friends reunion' films, with comedy and drama, but there are added Mediterranean spices in the heightened emotions and the rawness of some of the confrontations.
Maria Ripoll, whose film Traces of Sandalwood we programmed years ago, shows a very good command of comedic timing with many hilarious scenes throughout.
The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge and the Eastern region but also throughout the UK.
