This Spanish-language animation (with English subtitles) juxtaposes cuddly teddy bears and mystical unicorns in a savage war, evoking a twisted fusion of BAMBI and APOCALYPSE NOW. What begins with dark humour steadily descends into psychological horror.
A new generation of naïve teddy-bear recruits is indoctrinated, drugged, and sent to die in the Magic Forest, where innocence is destroyed.
Through its deceptively beautiful animation style, the film interrogates religious fanaticism, militarised indoctrination, inherited trauma, and the corrosive effects of fascist ideology on the human psyche.
The film will be briefly introduced by Alberto Vázquez, the film’s director via video and Dr Anna Blagrove, Norwich University of the Arts Animation Lecturer. Following the film there will be a panel discussion with academics and industry.
