In 1649, England commits an unthinkable and unprecedent act. After years of civil war, the King, Charles I, is condemned as a traitor to the people and publicly beheaded – leaving the nation without a monarch for the first time in nearly 600 years… but the Republic won’t last for long.

A Kingdom in Chaos tells the dramatic true story of England’s most tumultuous historical period – the English Civil War. This gripping docu-drama examines how, in less than two turbulent decades, England descended into civil war, executed its king, abolished the monarchy and established a republic, only to restore the Crown once again.

Though the crown returns, the events of the Civil War permanently reshape Britain’s politics and power. And with the recent accession of King Charles III, A Kingdom in Chaos asks whether the Stuarts’ struggle for divine power and the shadow of revolution still shape the monarchy today?
