Ryan Coogler’s most personal piece of filmmaking and screenwriting yet, SINNERS infuses a piece of Coogler’s own history into the virtuosic and wholly original world he and the filmmaking team bring to life on screen, including the distinctive presence of the Blues, which Coogler calls “the music that experience inspires.”
Michael B. Jordan gives an intricate, career-defining dual performance as twins Smoke and Stack while actor, musician and songwriter Miles Caton impresses in a breakout role that acts as the throughline of the film’s sprawling narrative.
About the Film
After chasing success in the North, twin brothers Smoke and Stack return to their hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi to open a juke joint. As music and dance meld in celebration of artistry, culture and history, an evil descends, threatening to devour the heart and soul of the community.
