This screening is an Archaeo-Heritage Film event, we are thrilled to include an introduction by Monica Wat of Made on the Moon Festival. This film includes a post-film discussion on the history of 'Hopping Vampires', Taoists priests and burial rites in the Qing dynasty.
Mr. Vampire (Chinese: 殭屍先生) is a 1985 Hong Kong comedy horror film directed by Ricky Lau and produced by Sammo Hung. The film's box office success led to the creation of a Mr. Vampire franchise. A Taoist priest and his two disciples pursue a hopping, bloodthirsty vampire who threatens to wreak havoc amongst the human population.
