Our student film category is the one that invariably blows the most minds! The incredible standard and expertise on show is such that these films stand on their own and if it weren’t for the fact we want to trumpet their very first steps, you wouldn’t know these filmmakers weren’t hardened professionals with years of experience under their belts!
RAW (Switzerland) (10 minutes)

To succeed in the world of haute cuisine you need more than creativity. A young chef must learn that in this kitchen a lot of blood, sweat and tears go into making every dish. JUDGES’ COMMENTS: “Relentless edge of your seat stuff.”
NO ILL WILL (Denmark) (20 minutes)

Elinborg runs into her old friend Marita at the grocery store. The conversation is civil yet awkward until Marita decides to ask the big question that’s been bugging her for so long: has Elinborg blocked her on Facebook.

A crotchety old man used to a life of seclusion inside his submarine balanced precariously atop a mountain, struggles to maintain equilibrium when an unwelcome visiting seagull rocks his world. WINNER: Best Surrey Film

LIEVE (Belgium) (17 minutes)
Director Vincent Gross
Lieve, a home nurse, braves the windy weather on her moped to assist her elderly patients. She has a big heart and tries her hardest to fulfil the wishes of all her patients but her biggest challenge is learning to respect her own boundaries.

DOGWATCH (Austria) (33 minutes)

Forced to take a job as a security guard for which he is ludicrously overqualified, Raphael finds his life taking some unexpected turns.
