Join the London Australian Film Society for the 2nd Annual Screening of Aussie comedy classic, THE CASTLE.

When their family home – conveniently located next to an airport runway – is threatened with compulsory acquisition, sweet-natured patriarch Darryl Kerrigan (Michael Caton) leads the fightback, defending his little pocket of suburbia all the way to the High Court.

This low budget marvel, from the team behind TV’s Frontline, D-Generation and The Late Show, became an instant cult classic, with large helpings of kitsch Australiana, and a constant stream of hilariously quotable one-liners. For the uninitiated, imagine an Ealing Comedy set in Melbourne’s daggy outer suburbs.

This special screening will also include Georgina Haig’s brilliant short film ASHES (2023), starring Michael Caton, and a host of other surprise extras.

Australian snacks and sweets will be on sale, and a raffle will be held before the screening.

With thanks to Working Dog Productions.

“The greatest Australian film of all time.” Matt Neal, ABC Radio
“one of those comic treasures…that shows its characters in the full bloom of glorious eccentricity.” Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
“further proof that the Aussies love to make affectionate fun of the tackiest aspects of their culture.” David Ansen, Newsweek
