The London LGBT+ Forums Network and Studio Voltaire with Greenwich Picturehouse are hosting a special screening of 90s British LGBTQIA+ classic, 'Beautiful Thing' (1996, 89 mins).

We are delighted that following the screening we will have a Q&A with the film's writer Jonathan Harvey, director Hettie Macdonald and cast members including Glen Berry (Jamie Gangel) and drag legend Dave Lynn (Plus more TBA) hosted by David Robson.

After the screening, London's next Rainbow Plaque will be unveiled.

Rainbow Plaques is a national scheme that identifies hidden and lost LGBTQIA+ heritage whilst highlighting the importance of the visibility of queer communities in our streets and public spaces.

The plaque will be installed nearby, at the Greenwich Tavern (The Gloucester in Beautiful Thing).

Rainbow Plaques is supported by the Mayor of London’s Untold Stories Fund as part of his Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm. With additional support from Wandsworth Oasis.

Hettie Macdonald’s 1996 romantic comedy tells the story of two classmates and neighbours who fall in love over one summer in South East London.

Jamie (Glen Berry) is a shy and introverted student infatuated with Ste (Scott Neal).

Ste sleeps over one night at Jamie’s after getting beaten up by his brother – the two share a bed, and a complicated, heartwarming relationship ensues in this funny and touching comedy.

The screenplay was written by Jonathan Harvey, adapted from his own play of the same name. £2 of every ticket will go to support the Rainbow Plaques project.

Please note, this ticket does not include entry into the unveiling ceremony. Please register your interest to attend via Eventbrite.
