The cutthroat world of television production is revealed in this comedy-drama set in the world of American late night talk shows. Emma Thompson plays Dame Katherine Newbury who is battling to remain relevant amid declining rating. She hires Molly Patel (Mindy Karling), a young Indian-American comedy writer to her staff, making her the sole non-white, female member of the team. Molly slowly helps revitalise the show, can this new success last? Mindy Karling’s sparkling script takes in everything from sexism in the work place to the importance of social media in the modern world in this incredibly relevant comedy.
