To celebrate the film's stunning 4K restoration, welcome director Mike Figgis for a Q&A screening of his Oscar-winning indie drama Leaving Las Vegas.
Adapted from the semi-autobiographical novel by John O'Brien and starring Nicolas Cage and Elizabeth Shue in career-defining roles, Leaving Las Vegas follows listless, alcoholic screenwriter Ben Sanderson (Cage).
Sacked by the Hollywood studio where he works, Ben heads for Las Vegas – the only town where the bars never close – to drink himself into oblivion.
When he meets beautiful sex worker Sera (Shue), the two of them strike up an unconventional relationship: one where she can't ask him to curb his drinking, and he can't fault her for her job.
Although Ben's self-destruction threatens to eclipse their bond, they fall in love and decide to live together, accepting each other as they are to the very end.
