Matthew F. Smith’s documentary offers a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ look at the artists at the core of the LA beat scene and grants personal glimpses into their creative processes. Centred around the infamous Low-End Theory club night, Looking for the Perfect Beat delves into the culture surrounding the LA movement that has been at the forefront of the world beat scene. Featuring some of the world’s leading beat-makers such as; Thundercat, the Gaslamp Killer, TOKiMONSTA, Jonwayne, Baths, Daedelus and more.

Representing London’s own flourishing beat scene will be a very special guest, showcasing beat-making techniques with a live performance and a talk/ audience discussion on all things beats!

The Jazz re:freshed Film Club extends and translates this objective into showcasing a variety of music and culture-related features and documentaries, celebrating and spotlighting important cultural movements, moments and musicians.
