The Grierson Trust: Grayson Perry in Conversation
Grayson Perry CBE, RA, In Conversation With Channel 4's Chief Creative Officer, Jay Hunt
Grayson Perry is a compassionate and thought-provoking filmmaker, as comfortable exploring the meaning of art as he is interviewing wrestlers and miners on the theme of masculinity. Describing himself as Britain's second best-known transvestite, the Turner Prize-winning artist is a Royal Academician, and is currently Chancellor of the University Of The Arts, London.
Best known for his ceramics, Grayson is also an award-winning documentary maker, and his films have garnered two BAFTAs and two Grierson Awards. They include Why Men Wear Frocks, Grayson Perry: Born Risky, Grayson Perry's Dream House and last year's All Man for Channel 4.
Grayson’s filmmaking inspires and is inspired by his art. The Vanity Of Small Differences, his monumental suite of tapestries, was chronicled in his series In The Best Possible Taste. Grayson Perry: Who Are You? was accompanied by a presentation of works at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
Join Grayson and Jay for a look at his work both on and off-screen, and hear what inspires him and what's next in his documentary diary.
Presented by the Grierson Trust and produced by Channel 4.
