Battleship Potemkin

Eisenstein's 1925 film about the Kronstadt navy mutiny that sparked off the Russian revolution has ironically become a classic of bourgeois culture, more written about than any movie ever made.

But it remains great viewing - for its fast cutting, unashamed enthusiasm, and hammer-and-tongs sense of revolutionary fervour.
