Tawai: A Voice From The Forest

Royal Marine Commander-turned-explorer Bruce Parry has led expeditions to over a dozen of the world’s most remote and thus intriguing corners, as exemplified by his 2002 TV documentary Cannibals And Crampons. Ever alert to how humankind has changed since we made the transition from nomadic hunter-gatherers to settlers, he travels with renowned cinematographer Mark Ellam (White Sun, The Take) from the heart of the Amazon to the jungles of Malaysia and beyond, where they meet a fascinating variety of indigenous peoples. These encounters allow them to reflect on the ways societies have become structured, and how we might rediscover our loosely connected origins to help shape more balanced relationships with our world and each other.
