One of the best-loved films of the epic STAR WARS series, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) returns to the big screen in all its awesome glory. The film picks up three years after the events of THE NEW HOPE (1977), finding the Rebel Alliance led by Princess Leia (Fisher) doing battle with Darth Vader’s evil forces on the ice planet Hoth. Meanwhile Luke Skywalker (Hamill) is separated from his friends and sets out on reclusive quest to become the Jedi he was born to be. Full of spectacular battle sequences, epically conceived sets and jaw dropping special FX, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is also arguably the most thoughtful and thematically ambiguous films in the series, asking interesting questions about individual purpose, loyalty, morality and politics in amongst all the spectacular action. Here is truly one of the greatest blockbuster films ever made, and a chance to see it once more on the big screen where it belongs.
