Revisit The Oscar nominated 2016 German-Austrian classic comedy-drama Toni Erdmann for Father’s Day 2021. Presented by Birds’ Eye View’s Reclaim The Frame Project in association with Kino Germany Now!
Prankster Winfried doesn’t see much of his estranged, high-powered consultant daughter Ines, who lives in Bucharest. One day, he decides to surprise her with a visit, but this brings tension as Ines is working on an important project. To enter her corporate life, Winfried creates a fictional alias. Named the best film of the year by Sight & Sound in 2016, Toni Erdmann was directed, written and co-produced by Maren Ade.
The film will be followed with a conversation between Katherine Angel (author of DADDY ISSUES and TOMORROW SEX WILL BE GOOD AGAIN) and Mia Bays, director-at-large of Birds' Eye View. Plus a Father's Day poem from award-winning poet Be Manzini.
