We are delighted to welcome director Eva Riley for a post-screening Q&A.

An aspiring teen gymnast’s world is turned upside down with the arrival of the half-brother she never knew she had. 14 year old Leigh (impressive newcomer Frankie Box) lives with her neglectful father on the outskirts of Brighton. She’s a talented gymnast, training hard for her first competition despite her lack of confidence, some catty fellow gymnasts and little money to pay for her fees. When an older half-brother appears at her house one night, Leigh’s lonely existence is altered. Mistrust gradually transforms into exciting new feelings as Leigh receives the attention she craves. But she is also exposed to the thrill and danger of moped crime. Eva Riley – whose short films CINECITY have been proud to present in past editions of the festival - has made a brilliantly assured debut feature. With excellent performances from its lead duo and a strong visual style, this spirited coming-of-age story has picked up a host of great reviews since its recent world premiere at London Film Festival.

Screening as part of CINECITY: The Brighton Film Festival 2019. Each year, CINECITY takes you on adventures in world cinema, bringing you the best in festival previews, live cinema and archive treasures.
