Rigoletto On The Lake
From the 2019 Bregenz Festival in Austria comes one of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpieces, the tragic RIGOLETTO. Compelling, blood-curdling and beautiful, the work is being performed on the huge Bregenz stage which juts out over Lake Constance in front of an audience of some 7,000. RIGOLETTO is an unforgettable tale of a sacrifice and revenge, of a father's rage and a daughter's shame. It features several of opera's best-known arias-including Rigoletto's passionate denouncement ‘Cortigiani, Vil Razza Dannata’, Gilda's dreamy ‘Caro Nome’ and the Duke's ‘La Donna E Mobile’. Directed and designed by Philip Stölzl, this spectacular production features a 14-meter high jester’s head with moving eyes and mouth, and singers at times performing on trapezes, hanging out of balloons or lying in hammocks 30 meters up. Stunning playing from the Wiener Symphoniker conducted by Enrique Mazzola.
