Snatched

Director: Jonathan Levine.
Starring: Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Joan Cusack. USA 2017. TBC mins.

Returning to the big screen after a 15-year hiatus, Goldie Hawn amply affirms her comic chops in Snatched, which features a razor-sharp script co-written by co-star Amy Schumer and Kate Dippold (The Heat, Ghostbusters (2016)). Hawn plays the mother of impetuous Emily (Schumer), a girl dumped by her slimeball boyfriend just before they’re due to embark on the holiday of a lifetime to South America. Not about to give up on her exotic vacation, the jilted but smart-mouthed Emily persuades her ultra-cautious mother to travel with her. Driven by Hawn and Schumer’s sparkling chemistry, the comedy comes fast and furious as mother and daughter work through their differences to negotiate their outrageous jungle adventure, which includes a stressful jungle kidnapping and some extremely risqué sight gags and dialogue.
